Canny Belters take the win north of the border

Canny Belters bring home a win from north of the border against Granite City Roller Girls.

In a tense bout that saw a strong start from Newcastle Roller Girls, the lead changed hands several times, with GCRG just in front in the second half.

In a nail biting down to the last jam, with the score at 121-120 Granite City, the Belters managed to finish on top 124-121 after a near false start, a lost panty, a lost lead jammer and some unbeatable defence.

Final score 124-121 to the Newcastle Roller Girls Canny Belters.

Once upon a Tyne – NRG Christmas double headliner

Well look at this Newcastle Roller Girls are treating you all to a Christmas delight, a DOUBLE headliner, thats two A team bouts for the price of one.

On Saturday 15th December  Hot Wheel Roller Derby return for some more action with the Canny Belters.  After a close match last year, where the Belters came from 70 down at half time to win the game by five points, the rematch is one not to be missed!

Next up  Tyne and Fear take on Lincolnshire Rolling Thunder.the two teams have never met on track yet, so you can bet sparks are going to fly so see who get the first one up

Sven is Berlin Bound

November 16th – 18th 2012 will see the top 10 WFTDA teams from Europe converge on Berlin to fight for the title of Europe’s best in a WFTDA Sanctioned tournament named Track Queens: Battle Royal.
Our own referee/announcer Sven WillIBeFamous has been hand picked to take a seat in the WFTDA.TV commentary box for the weekend alongside some of Europe’s finest Derby Announcers and will be doing his best to bring viewers all the stats, action and quotes direct from the heart of the tournament.

NRG raise funds packing bags!

On Saturday 6th October 2012, Newcastle Roller Girls joined together to pack bags at Sainsburys in Monkseaton.

A  big thank you to Sainsburys who were extremely kind and accommodating, and to all the lovely shoppers who allowed us to carefully pack their bags giving generously to our cause.   The grand total of  512 pounds will go towards finding us a new venue to bout in.  Thank you to all involved!
